Practice Tough Love

Hello Everyone! How are you?

I have just got back from my long Chinese New Year holiday feeling all rejuvenated and ready for all the goals and challenges lined ahead. Can’t believe we are in February of 2017 already! For the past one week, I really got the chance to unwind and did some serious thinking about my life. Been reading a lot of books lately and one of the book that I read is Life Lessons From The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, written by Robin Sharma.

One chapter that really struck me is about “Practicing Tough Love”

The golden thread of a highly successful and meaningful life is SELF-DISCIPLINE. Discipline allows you to do all those things you know in your heart you should do but never feel like doing. Without self-discipline, you will not set clear goals, manage your time effectively, treat people well, persist through the tough times, care for your health or think positive thoughts.

The author call the habit of self-discipline “TOUGH LOVE” because getting tough with yourself is actually a very loving gesture. By being stricter with yourself, you will begin to live your life more deliberately, on your own terms rather than simply reacting to life the way a leaf floating in a stream drifts according to the flow of the current on a particular day.

Which means,

THE TOUGHER YOU ARE ON YOURSELF, THE EASIER LIFE WILL BE ON YOU.

We achieve great things by training ourselves. Through proper training, we form proper habits; we can intentionally choose those habits that are desirable for the formation of character. Effective, fulfilled people do not spend their time doing what is most convenient and comfortable. They have the courage to listen to their callings and to do the wide thing. This habit of self-discipline is making them great.

So this year, I have made the decision to practice this TOUGH LOVE on myself and to step out of my comfort zone.

Because all of us don’t want to come to the end of life and find that we have just lived in the heat of the moment with no real intention.

We want to be people who have a genuine sense of calling and purpose.

Today’s outfit is my favourite red satin dress and a faux fur coat. Every time when I wear this combination, it will sure attract a lot of glances and attention, especially from women. (Don’t ask me why, I don’t know @.@) There was one time at the Moulin Rouge, a woman from the next table walked up to me and my husband, offered her compliment to this outfit combination. We later clink champagne glasses and spent a lovely evening with her and her husband, cruising the Seine river in Paris. So I deduce this combination could be a good conversation starter and make some friends if you wear it to dinner party 🙂

Let’s pray that in this year 2017, we all have the grace to run with endurance the race that has set before us.

XOXO Eryn
